Expelling and Solvent Extraction

At Bolaca, our process starts with a thorough cleaning and drying of the seeds. We remove any foreign material that might have gotten mixed in, ensuring a pure and high-quality product. From there, we have two main methods of oilseed extraction: expelling and solvent extraction.
Expelling is used for seeds with high oil content and involves a preheating step before being mechanically pressed in expellers. On the other hand, solvent extraction uses hexane to dissolve the oil, and then the remaining oil content is reduced to a minimum in a multi-stage counter-current process. This results in crude edible oil and oilseed meal. Our crush plants supply crude and degummed oil to refiners for further processing and sales to the food industry.
